JCJC Ag Science students visit MSU

By Kelly Atwood, JCJC Public Relations

Forty Jones County Junior College Agriculture-Science students recently visited the Mississippi State University Poultry Science Department.

The purpose of the trip was to visit with faculty of the Poultry department concerning careers in that area. Poultry production in Mississippi is worth over $2 billion a year to the economy of our state.

While on the trip, the students attended a leadership conference and heard keynote speaker retired General Colin Powell.

Gen. Powell gave an address on what it takes to be an effective leader.

The trip was made possible by a grant that the JCJC Ag-Science Department received from the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association.

The purpose of the grant is to increase the number of Poultry Science majors entering the JCJC AG-Science Department who will then transfer to the Mississippi State Poultry Department.
