Morgan Breland of Laurel recorded her winning story at the Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) studios in Jackson during the 2009 MPB Reading Rainbow Contest Winners Celebration.
Her story, “Ricco and the Turtle,” will air later this summer on MPB Radio.
Breland, who placed second in the first grade division, joined the 13 other statewide “Reading Rainbow” contest winners and their families for a day-long celebration at MPB.
The event included lunch, special storytelling presentations and building their personal Wacky Bears.  MPB and Barnes & Noble Booksellers presented awards and gift certificates to the winners during an afternoon ceremony.
“Reading Rainbow” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on MPB TV.
