LLT presents The Women
By Amy Beets, people@laurelleadercall.com
The Laurel Little Theatre will present The Women, as its second production of the season.
Director Cynthia Welborn and Assistant Director, Susan Mangum, have a cast of more than 30 local women of all ages.
The play is a wisecracking satire about the lives of socialite friends in the 1930’s.
“The play is all women but is all about men,” said Welborn. “The ladies are dessed in beautiful costumes of hats, gloves, dresses, and jewelry of the 1930’s. They are oh so chic.”
Set during the Great Depression, the play takes an intriguing look at the lives of socialite friends and their relationships with each other.
Offering comical relief to important issues, The Women is sure to please its audience.
The characters find themselves in spirited discussions about men; however, no men are actually ever seen.
“Even though this production is by women, men will love it as well,” said Welborn.
Performances are May 21-23 at 8 p.m., and May 24 at 2 p.m. Reservations and ticket information at 601-518-0295 the week of the show, or at LLTLaurelMS@aol.com.
Due to the serious nature and adult content of the play, it is not suggested for younger audiences.
