Don’t Go There

I love and trust my parents. I know what they like and dislike. I want them to be pleased with me. When we are arguing, I am tempted to go my own way and show them that I am right and they are wrong. Because I do not want the displeasure of my parents, I quickly change my mind by deciding not to go there.

In that same thought, we love and trust our Heavenly Father and want to please Him. We know what He likes and dislikes. This life is not about us. It is about pleasing Him. However, when we are put in a situation we do not like, we are tempted to do our own thing. We know to depend on God, but we have a problem and want to show Him why our way is better!

The next time the devil tugs at our heart trying to get us to disobey our Father, we can always have the victory if we quickly change our thinking, and just don’t go there.

Tracy Traylor is a religion columnist for the Laurel Leader-Call
