United in Matrimony



On the evening of May 17, 2008, Lane Brianne Williamson and Scott Gerald Staines were married at Franklin United Methodist Church in Laurel in a candlelight ceremony presided by Rev. David Slaughter.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayman Dal Williamson of Laurel. She is the granddaughter of Rev. and Mrs. Dolphus Paul Williamson of Laurel and the late Mary Elizabeth Staples Duckworth. Honorary grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul D. Johnson of Ellisville.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lee Staines of Brandon. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Maxwell Staines of Irvine, Calif. and the late Wanda Ilene Thompson Staines and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony John DiMarco of Fort Worth, Texas and the late Ruth Ellen Panic DiMarco.

Wedding instrumentalists were Sally Wooten, piano; Tom Howells, trumpeter; and the Momentum String Quartet, string music. Andrew Mark Webb sang “Be Thou My Vision” during the seating of the mothers, and Kathy Webb and Dr. Rudy Gatlin sang “The Prayer” during the couple’s first communion together.

The bride wore a fitted designer gown of diamond white satin with a dropped waist accented by a band of crystal and pearl beading and a cathedral length veil edged with crystals. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white My Love peonies, white Lullaby roses and lily of the valley.

Natalie Day Williamson Gibbes of Laurel, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Leslie Dean, Bevin Wilkinson, Molly Allen Guitreau, Kelly Miller, Katie Fett Miller, McKenzie Followwill, Emily Presswood, Amanda Staines Peterson and Stefanie Staines Shackelford.

Flowergirls were Rebecca DiMarco, Tessa Peterson and Kate Shackelford.

The bridesmaids wore gowns of champagne silk and carried satin ribbon wrapped bouquets of white lilies and white roses.

Jerry Staines was his son’s best man.

Serving as groomsmen were K. K. Aldridge, John Eric Hester, Henry Glover, Brandon Page, Clifford Ammons, Nathan Peterson and Stephen Shackelford.

Ushers were Blake Sherman, Cade Sherman, Matt Sherman and Gregg Gibbes.

Bell ringers were Luke Peterson and Matthew Shackelford.

Emily Higginbotham served as program attendant and Stephanie Slaughter assisted with the guest registry. The wedding was directed by Sharon Turner and wedding greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ainsworth and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Ishee.

After the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Laurel Country Club with music provided by The Chill. Reception greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rogers and Dr. and Mrs. David Sheppard.
