United in Matrimony



Summer Rachel McNair and Jesse Reid Alford were married on April 26, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Madison.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie McNair of Brandon. She is the granddaughter of Edna McNair of Flowood, the late J. C. McNair and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alson Welch.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Alford. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dykes of Kentwood, La. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Pete Alford.

Rev. Don Bassett of Baton Rouge officiated the candlelight ceremony. Bob Sullivan played the violin; Joe Larry Mauldin served as pianist and Bobbie Butler, organist. Ginger Gorman and Justin Walters were soloists. Kayla Andrews and Charlie Dykes read scriptures.

The bride wore a gown of ivory taffeta, featuring a dropped waistline and ruched skirt which flowed into a chapel-length train. The strapless bodice covered with horizontal pleats was adorned with a band of iridescent beading at the neckline and waistline. The bride wore a two-tiered veil of ivory illusion scattered with iridescent beading. She carried a bouquet of peonies, roses, and freesia.

Matrons of honor were Ginger Gorman of Madison and Alison McNair of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Bridesmaids were Carrie Alford of McComb, Amanda Crouch of Brandon and Tracy Haynes of Ellisville.

Tim Alford was his son’s best man.

Serving as ushers and groomsmen were Jeremy Alford of Kentwood, Michael Edwards and Derek Knepple of Brandon and Miles McNair of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

A reception honoring the couple was held at Mississippi Craft Center. Beautiful decorations, delectable food, music, dance and the presence of many special friends and family members made their night unforgettable. Rachel and Charlie Dykes of Kentwood and Patty and Steven Welch of Memphis were reception greeters. Patty also served as the reception coordinator.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Nick’s Restaurant. Penny Russell hosted a breakfast at her beautiful reservoir home. Kay Todd was also a hostess.

Following a honeymoon to the Mayan Riviera, the couple resides in Brandon. The bride is a representative for GlaxoSmithLKline; the groom is a CPA with Horne LLP.
