Landrum appointed to board

To the Leader-Call

An Ellisville man has been reappointed to a state board by Gov. Haley Barbour.

Barbour has reappointed Robert S. Landrum, of Ellisville, to the State Board of Mental Health, which serves as the governing body of the Department of Mental Health (DMH).

As a member and former chairman of this board, Landrum will continue to work to ensure continuity of quality care and professional oversight of services administered through DMH.

“Providing quality healthcare, both physical and mental, is one of state government’s most vital functions,” Barbour said. “I appreciate Robert’s commitment to ensuring the best care for Mississippians; he’s done an outstanding job in this capacity.”

Landrum retired as Career Center and Workforce Development director after more than 25 years at Jones County Junior College, where he currently works part-time in the college’s Foundation Development office.

He is a volunteer with Kamp Kaleidoscope, which is a camp for children with autism spectrum disorder, and also served as president of the Ellisville State School for the Mentally Handicapped Parent’s Organization.

He was a member of the Mississippi Developmental Disabilities Planning Council for four years and received the James “Jimmy” Stubbs Award for volunteer service to Mississippians with mental retardation, mental illness, or chemical dependencies.

Landrum and his wife, Jennie, have been married 40 years.
