Laurel man wins new truck; tours with music superstar Toby Keith

To the Leader-Call

Just like the words to a Toby Keith song, Jason Pressly is living a dream. As the Grand Prize winner of the Built Ford Tough-Biggest, Baddest Sweepstakes, Laurel’s own was on the lot of Laurel Ford Tuesday to pick up his brand new $35,000 Ford F-150, which Jason claims is the cheapest truck he’ll ever buy.

Jason was the top winner in a sweepstakes with over 157,000 entries submitted trying to win not only the new Ford truck, but an all expense paid weekend touring with Toby Keith and his roadshow. Ford flew Jason and three of his friends from Mississippi to Virginia Beach, Va., where he met up with the Toby Keith tour. After meeting Toby, Jason and his buddies had front row seats for that nights concert. Following the show, they used their All-Access Crew Member status to spend some time backstage before loading up on the tour bus bound that night for the following days concert in Raleigh, N.C.

Saturday morning, they all watched and assisted the lighting crew and other roadies setting up for Saturday nights concert. This time, the group was allowed to watch the show from backstage getting a unique perspective that few of us will ever have. The surprises weren’t through, however, as Toby called Jason on stage in front of 18,000 fans when it was time for Toby to play his “Stars & Stripes” guitar. Shy as he is (not), Jason handed over the guitar and shook Toby Keith’s hand in front of all those jealous fans.

All this might not have taken place if it wasn’t for Jason’s Dad who entered Jason’s name in the contest. In fact, Jason was in Arizona having lunch when he got the phone call. It was from a Ford marketing person who was going on and on about winning and some of the details, but since Jason hadn’t entered the contest himself, he thought it was some telemarketer pitching some product. Jason even asked what do I have to buy? After sitting back down and having it all explained again, Jason likely grinned the grin that was still on his face as he was handed the keys to his new Ford F-150 by Bill Davis of Laurel Ford.

That truck has a road trip in its near future, as Jason talked Toby Keith into agreeing to autograph the truck whenever the tour gets within driving distance of Laurel. Now Jason should run his own contest offering the prize of riding along on that trip.
