Jones County under a burn ban

From staff reports

The Jones County Board of Supervisors, in a special meeting Wednesday morning, voted to submit a request to the Mississippi State Forestry Commission to impose an Open Burning Ban effective immediatey until July 8. Conditions, due to a lack of rainfall combined with high temperatures and very low humidity have prompted this action. According to Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna, the conditions will be reviewed again with the Board of Supervisors on July 7 and an extension of this ban may be requested beyond July 8.
